You may recognize her from my post back in October 2012 for the Redken Chromactics contest. My friend Susie was looking to mix up her look from her everyday long ponytail. She hadn't had a color process in awhile and it was no concern to her what I did with her hair. To anyone who works daily behind the chair knows this type of client is a dream to have!

To start we cut 10 INCHES! off of Susie's hair. We sent the hair to Locks for Love as a donation.
For her color process I began with applying Shades EQ Cream 5G 10 Volume as a 2" root touch up. From there I took a rectangle section over her right ear and blended from the ends up (ombre) with Up to 7 lightener and 20 Volume Pro-Oxide section by section. I love using the new Redken angled ombre brush that we just received from our distributor. The ombre strands in her hair came up just the shade I was looking for. If it would have pulled very light I may have used a toner like 7G Shades EQ to achieve a color like this.

Blunt bob haircuts to long locks in under an hour. Hotheads Hair extensions have become one of my favorite services in the salon. The process is quick and easy and the possibilities of what you can do with the hair extensions are endless.
Alicia's hair extension process was a bit more involved due to her current hair color. Her vibrant color is done with 6RR Redken Chromactics with 20 volume. To match her color to her Hotheads I ordered two packs of #144 in 10"-12" length to be colored. I chose the #144 because it is the most vibrant red of the HH and I knew I would only need to add depth to the hair and not tone. I chose equal parts 5BR 6CR Redken Shades EQ Cream with 10 volume processed for 30 minutes. The color result was a perfect match!

The hair on the left is the original color #144 The color on the right is after I processed with the Shades EQ Cream formula.

Carla's color was a perfect match with #2 and no coloring was needed before we applied them to the hair. However her hair is extremely thick and she needed the more than usual amount for her application. I used three twenty packs of #2 in 14"-16" length with two accent pieces in the front in the color #144. After applying the extensions I took minimal length off, just enough to even everything. I added angles in the front and some long layers to help everything blend.

Time does fly. It has been over a year since my last post. I do however have a valid excuse...
November, 2012 I got engaged, a quick 11 months later I walked down the aisle to my new husband Dan.

Now that I have officially left wedding planning land.. I'm back!

Busy Weekend!

This past weekend was entirely dedicated to hair education. Its always so inspiring to go to classes and learn new things, the hair world is forever changing.

Sunday I became certified in Hot Heads Hair Extensions. Through my experiences I have not been a fan of many extensions on the market today. I have found that fusion hair extensions are very damaging to the hair and not easy to care for.
Hot Heads are 100% human hair that are applied to the hair using tape. There is no heat and no tools needed to apply. I am very exciting about using them in the salon and on myself!

Also attended this weekend.  Redken Artist, Exchange facilitator and Main Stage Presenter, Ellen Lawlor Creative Finishing Class. It was a hands on workshop where we learned lot of new tips and tricks for dressing hair.

Ellen Lawlor has worked around the world and has had many high end clients! It was awesome to sit back and listen to many of her methods and philosophies of the hair industry.

Most exciting part of the class, we spray painted hair using lace!!
Sorry for the terrible quality picture
